• The name says it all, Siberian larch grows in very cold areas. The cold climate causes these trees to grow more slowly. This results in a very durable wood species and has a strength comparable to oak!
• Siberian larch can remain outside untreated for 15-20 years (depending on location and weather conditions). The wood will grey a little over time.
• Siberian larch has a yellowish colour and relatively small knots.
• You may be able to achieve an even longer life or prevent greying by using a transparent/covering oil or stain.

European larch is one of the toughest European spruce types. It’s resin content is relatively high, making it less susceptible to fungi and decay. Throughout the years, as it will dry, the hardness will increase, extending it’s  lifespan even more. 

European larch has a hardness class indication of 3. 

When left untreated, a life span of 10 to 15 years may be expected (Depending on weather conditions and location) By treating the timber you can significantly extend it's lifespan .
